In January, we launch Kings Place’s Venus Unwrapped series with a concert of music by 17th century Venetian composer, Barbara Strozzi.
If you’ve never heard her music before, we really think it’s worth a listen. So we’ve compiled some of the best of it into the Spotify playlist below.
Venus Unwrapped is a year long series celebrating music by female composers, and we’re delighted to be playing the opening night on Thursday 10 January.
We suggest starting your Strozzi listening with the aria Che si può fare, for a perfect example of Strozzi’s unique sound world with its evocative use of 17th century string instruments such as the theorbo.
