Calling all oboe and bassoon players! Join us for a unique opportunity to perform Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks with a specially-created massed wind ensemble.
On Sunday 16 July we’re performing the Fireworks Music and are hoping to get as near as we can to the original scoring (24 oboes, 12 bassoons, trumpets, horns and percussion). We’ll be doing it all at Cecil Sharp House in central London.
Am I good enough?
The project is for oboe and bassoon players of any standard (above grade 1) and we’ve specially adapted parts for those at an early stage of learning. You’ll play Handel’s Fireworks Music and a new piece by Anthony Bailey for oboes and bassoons. Players from the OAE will demonstrate their old instruments and we will have music from the Camden New Voices choir, before finishing with a rousing finale for everyone. It ‘ll be a fun day, and a brilliant celebration of wind music.
Family and friends are welcome to join us for our free performance at 1.30pm. If you’re a player at grade 6 or above you are welcome to join us just on the performance day (16 July). If you’re at an earlier stage in your playing you’ll probably feel more comfortable if you can also come along to the rehearsal on 2 July.
