Origin of Galaxies
Marvel at our extraordinary universe and the music of Bach with Bach, the Universe, and Everything, our new Sunday morning series for inquiring and curious minds.
Bach wrote more than 200 cantatas, a sublime collection trying to make sense of the world, exploring everything from faith and hope to time and eternity.
Each month enjoy a different cantata every month, put into context by an inspiring speaker exploring the physics and natural philosophy of Bach’s subject matter. For our first event we will be joined by Professor Carlos Frenk, winner of the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society in 2014, to discuss cosmology’s great births – the origin of galaxies.
With a little bit of communal singing and conversation afterwards, our very own Sunday service is a place to bond with music lovers and revel in the wonders of science. Feel invigorated, energised and inspired for the week ahead – there is no better way to start a Sunday morning.
In partnership with the Institute of Physics.
Performed at this first event is Bach’s cantata Ich glaube, lieber Herr (I believe, dear Lord, help my unbelief).
