We’re very pleased to be able to offer you the chance to watch the 2009 Glyndebourne production of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, featuring the OAE, online.

When it was first produced at the Dorset Gardens Theatre in London in 1692, The Fairy Queen featured stage effects that nearly bankrupted the theatre. There were elaborate costumes, swans gliding over lakes, grottoes, woods and 12-foot high fountains.

In this version, directed by Jonathan Kent and conducted by William Christie, you’ll get to see dazzling singing and dancing, flamboyant cross-dressing, a flying horse and a warren full of rampant rabbits!

The video stream is available to watch until 17 August.

OWN IT – The DVD of The Fairy Queen is available in our online shop now for just £24.99.
