Back on 3 and 4 May in London and Bristol we had a slightly unusual concert – one with no conductor. Each of the three pieces on the programme was instead directed by one or more of the guest soloists; Robert Levin, Isabelle Faust and Steven Isserlis.

After the concert in London they joined Nicola Christie out in the foyer for an Aftershow discussion – talking about the concert, working the OAE, what it’s like directing from their instruments, and the repertoire in the concert – Haydn’s Symphony 104, London, Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.3 and Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. Here’s a video of that discussion – starting just with Steven Isserlis as Robert and Isabelle got delayed en route from their dressing rooms!
