We are pleased to announce, after a two year audition process, that Luise Buchberger has been appointed as our new Co-Principal Cellist.

Luise was born in Frankfurt and began playing period instruments while studying in Salzburg under Clemens Hagen, from 2003 to 2007.  She has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe since 2009 and plays as guest principal cello for a number other of orchestras including  Spira mirabilis and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Today she is equally in demand as chamber musician, soloist and continuo cellist.

Luise told us, “I am delighted and honored to have been made a member of the OAE family, and I look forward to all the exciting challenges to come.”

Luise will perform as Principal cellist with the OAE in June at Glyndebourne in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera conducted by Robin Ticciati.

We hope you will join with us in making Luise feel very welcome as part of the OAE family.

  • Watching today on You-tube Trevor Pinnock conducting the Chamber Orchestra of Europe with Maria Joao Pires playing Mozart’s 27th Piano Concerto, I could not help but notice your total engagement to the activities including the encores. As a piano teacher, having worked with students for over 30 years, I congratulate you on your accomplishment and your noticeable love of music.

  • I want to second Stuart’s comment.
I watched the performance on Youtube and, from time to time, lost track of the music and got engrossed watching your facial expression.
You must be a great rtist and wish you all the success.
