Great first @OAENightShift at @CamdenAssembly. @LuiseBuchberger wants you to guess what we played from her glasses! https://t.co/Xte5CRStLg
Our late night series, The Night Shift is off on a pub crawl, starting Monday…
Yes, following a successful crowd-funding campaign during which our fans donated over £1,600 to the cause, The Night Shift Pub Tour 2013 kicks off at Balham’s Bedford Arms this Monday before traveling onto pubs in Shadwell (Tuesday) and Angel (Wednesday). We then take a breather before resuming in Brighton on 21 October, moving onto Bristol on 22 October and concluding in Camden on 23 October.
Four members of the OAE will be on the road, and will be playing two 30-minute sets at each venue. In the first we’ll be playing some of the most striking movements from Haydn’s string quartets, with a complete string quartet in the second set. The exact line-up will be different at each show.
During the tour we’ll also be playing brand new pieces written specifically for a pub setting from contemporary composers Kate Whitley, Kim B Ashton and Satoko Doi-Luck – these have been commissioned and developed in partnership with Sound and Music and workshopped with the players.
