Our New Year’s Resolutions

Fri 4 Jan 2013

As 2013 begins to take hold, most people come up with a New Year’s resolution or two, but in reality only 1 in 10 of us will keep at it for the whole year…depressing isn’t it?!

Intense. Extraordinary. Massive. But boring?! Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis

Tue 25 Oct 2011

On 4 November we’re collaborating with the Philharmonia Chorus to perform Beethoven’s epic Missa Solemnis in a concert which is given in memory of Sir Charles Mackerras, who was both President of the Philharmonia Chorus and an Emeritus Conductor of the OAE.

The other week we caught up with players from the Orchestra to find out more about this relatively rarely performed piece. It seems that not everyone loves it…but there’s only one way to find out for yourself – come!

Find out more about the concert here.

How Megan (Projects Manager, standing in for Philippa, the Orchestra Manager) got to Glyndebourne:

Departure: 11.55 from Vauxhall (She was hoping to have a swim before the show!|)

Train Vauxhall – Clapham Junction

Train Clapham Junction – East Croydon

Oh dear, about 1000 people waiting for rail replacement bus services to Gatwick Airport outside the station and no taxis to be found…

Walk to West Croydon

Train West Croydon – Sutton

Train Sutton – Dorking (made the train by about 1 minute)

[Briefly met her Mum to pick up some bits for tour the following day!]

Train Dorking Deepdene – Redhill

Train Redhill – Gatwick Airport

It’s now about 3.30…

Train Gatwick Airport – Brighton (Stopping at EVERY station en route)

Train Brighton – Lewes

Taxi to Glyndebourne

Arrival: 4.45
