Firstly – today is CPE Bach’s 297th Birthday! So it’s very appropriate that we are celebrating his music at this time. The first reviews of our concert of his music last week at the Queen Elizabeth Hall are now in – links below. Next week we’re off to the States for further performances of this concert in Boston (15 March) and New York (16 March).

The first reviews for the premiere recording on our new label OAE Released are in, and we were thrilled to be awarded a full 5 stars in The Independent, with the reviewer stating “Not all orchestras are the same, runs the message on the cover, and it’s true.”

We’re back from Paris and a second performance of our Symphonic Enlightenment programme of Wagner, Mahler and Liszt. First reviews from Friday’s performance are now in too – mainly from bloggers and online. Hopefully the Nationals will follow tomorrow. Thanks so much for the comments posted on our blog, You Tube video and also for the many Tweets we’re had as well. It’s always great to get such instant feedback!
Radio 3 recorded Friday’s concert at the Royal Festival Hall and you can listen to it at 7pm tonight, or online here for 7 days after.
Also coming up on the blog – a video interview with conductor Vladimir Jurowski, a round up of Night Shift news, pictures from Paris and a Parisien tour diary. Plus a parting shot from our intern Ingrid.
New Years Eve and New Years Day saw us performing at our King Place Headquarters to packed halls for an all-Mozart programme. The 1 Jan performance was broadcast live by BBC radio 3 and kicked off their Mozart marathon – you can still listen to it here and here (two separate parts) for another 2 days.
The reviews are now in – links below, and our Orchestra Manager Philippa snapped the Orchestra in rehearsal.

Well, our Prom on Sunday was a bit of an event. It’s not every day you get the OAE playing Berlioz and Wagner, and also not often that you get over 85 OAE players on stage! Plus, the Royal Albert Hall was packed to the rafters. If you couldn’t be there then you can still listen to the performance online, until this coming Sunday. Listen to it here.

10 March (Symphonies 1,8 & 9)
Both concerts were broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and you can still listen to Symphonies 2&3 here until tomorrow and 1, 8 & 5 here until next Monday.
We’re repeating the concerts in New York next week – with the Budapest Festival Orchestra also playing at Lincoln Center at the same time, so between us we’ll play a whole Beethoven cycle, all conducted by Iván Fischer. The only small fly in the ointment at the moment is the BA strike, so while we can get there we’re not entirely sure how we’re getting home yet…Read More

Thought we’d share a few reviews from recent weeks. First up is something from a little while back – Tom Service’s fantastic review of our last Night Shift – read it here on his blog. A lot of hard work goes into putting Night Shift’s on, so its nice to get such a positive review. We’ll do a post sometime about the logistics of putting two concerts on in one night!
His blog seemed to get picked up by quite a few people. Here you can even hear a group of students in the States talking about it!
Here’s a more recent piece from Reuters, a more general look at the Orchestra.
Finally here are a selection of reviews from our recent concerts with Sir Simon Rattle here in London.
