We're going more in depth into Vivaldi's Four Seasons with a look at the 'drunken man' in Autumn. All in time for o… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Some number crunching from the Projects Team…
I seem to spend a large amount of my time on the phone to the travel agent/on skyscanner (my new favourite website)/at Heathrow checking people in for their flight and it got me thinking, just how much travel does the orchestra actually do? Here’s a quick tally from our 2010-2011 foreign touring season (i.e. last season) that I did for all those number geeks out there like me:
Total tour journeys: 1747 – this is made up of:
425 train journeys
144 coach journeys
Hotel nights: 2015
Tour destinations: Toulouse, Valencia, Valladolid, Paris, Groningen, Nijmegen, Boston, New York, New York again, Halle, Luxembourg, Paris, Dublin, Salzburg, San Sebastian, Edinburgh (I know this is not actually ‘foreign’ but for the purposes of this exercise it is!), Warsaw, Eisenstadt, Warsaw again, Bucharest.
And most importantly, we need to feed the musicians, so we spent the following in subsistence:
72,420 Polish zloty
45,700 Romainian leu
Think I need a holiday after all of that!
