Today we’re announcing the concerts in our 2018/19 season as Resident Orchestra at Southbank Centre.

It’s called Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, and it’s the second in our Six Chapters of Enlightenment, six years of concerts celebrating the thought that made the modern world.

This time we’ve been thinking human rights, equality and freedom – Enlightenment ideals we cherish today, but that always seem precarious, perhaps now more than ever.

We’ll be unlocking these ideas with great artists including Sir Simon Rattle, Marin Alsop and Sir András Schiff. And we’ll be playing music by composers such as Brahms, Schumann and Sibelius, who lived and responded to extraordinary times of change.

You’ll have to wait until Tuesday 6 February to buy a ticket, unless you’re an OAE Friend, who are already snapping up the best seats in the house as part of their priority booking period. OAE Friends membership starts at just £50 and there are many other benefits as well. Become an OAE Friend and get priority booking today.
