JS Bach BWV 152 Tritt auf die Glaubensbahn

Tim Harford OBE, economist and journalist

THE MUSIC

The cantata text opens with ‘Walk on your own path…’ but the lyrics unfold into a dialogue between Jesus and the Soul and concludes with a duet, reminding us to reject earthly folly and to follow Jesus.

THE SCIENCE

There has been a mistake. The venue has provided the wrong piano. The black notes are sticking, the white notes are out of tune, the pedals don’t work and the instrument itself is just too small. What do you do? How do you overcome the problem?
Tim Harford talks about how random obstacles and frustrations can inspire us to be more creative.
