These days Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and their contemporaries are often more familiar to us through recordings, film soundtracks, adverts, ringtones or remixed as pop songs. Presented from the stage by the musicians of the OAEt, this concert explores why these composers became popular in the first place and why they remain so today.
Music to be performed includes The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel, Air on a G String, Well-Tempered Clavier, ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s desiring’ and Brandenburg Concerto No 3 by JS Bach, Spring from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi, Pachelbel’s Canon, plus music by Albinoni, Lully and Rameau.
