Acland Burghley School

We have embedded ourselves in this non-selective comprehensive state secondary school in North London, giving many students their first experience of live orchestral music. We work closely with students, staff and the local community to support arts education, create cultural opportunities and introduce young people to creative careers.

Regional Residencies

The OAE has developed strong relationships with culturally underserved areas across the country. Through in-depth residencies, we engage participants in workshops and performances at nurseries, schools, care homes, hospices and arts venues.

Schools

We work with approximately 9,500 students across all Key Stages per year. Our partners include schools in Brent, Camden, Ealing, Harrow, Islington, Newham and Wandsworth, as well as schools in our regional residency locations. Teacher training is an important element of our programme, ensuring that musical learning continues in between OAE visits.

Special Educational Needs

Over 10 years, the OAE has developed a reputation as a sector leader in accessible and adaptable programmes for participants with special and additional needs. Our activities range from small workshops in a school setting to large-scale performance projects at the Royal Albert Hall and Southbank Centre.

Nurturing Talent

Supporting the next generation of artists and educators is integral to a thriving creative industry. Our OAE Experience, Rising Stars of the Enlightenment and Young Artists programme provides training, performance opportunities and experience in delivering educational and outreach initiatives. These schemes are open to early career instrumentalists, singers, and young people with lived experience respectively.
