As a democratic orchestra, our players are able to choose to play the music they really care about. In Look, No Bass!, violin soloists of the OAE proudly present a selection of music for violins alone, highlighting the contrasts, textures and colours of the instrument. The programme will include Telemann’s concerti for four violins, and his programmatic Gulliver Duo, along with lesser known repertoire solos by master composer-performers, arrangements of Bach where repertoire for a single instrument has been transformed into quartets and at least one world premier created for the performance by the OAE violinists themselves.

Telemann’s chamber music collection, Essercizzi Musici, is a colourful feast of 25 musical delights. Over the course of a year, we will record monthly instalments of solo and trio sonatas, a sacred cantata and a fable by Aesop in a concert series that will appear on OAE Player. These concerts feature our players, Rising Stars on our singers’ scheme and student readers from our home, Acland Burghley School. These twelve programmes tell profound stories of art, faith and learning through music.
