Students from Acland Burghley attended a recital by cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and guitarist Plinio Fernandes hosted in the school's Assembly Hall.
The Orchestra and Acland Burghley School were delighted to host Sheku Kannah-Mason and Plinio Fernandes for a private recital held in the school’s Assembly Hall before 150 students.
Sheku Kanneh-Mason shares the OAE’s belief that every young person deserves meaningful access to music. Like the OAE, he is deeply committed to breaking down barriers, inspiring creativity and opening up classical music to new audiences. His work with students reflects the same mission that drives our education programme: to empower young people through hands-on music-making, exceptional artistic role models and opportunities that spark lifelong curiosity and confidence.

Sonata for Cello and Guitar – Radames Gnattali
Cafe 1930 – Astor Piazzolla
Following the recital, Sheku and Plinio hosted a Q&A in which they were asked by the students their inspirations to become musicians, how they coped with balancing their school life and musical life and what the hardest challenges were which they came across as musicians.
