Early Years

Every year we run projects for Nursery and Reception pupils that aim to introduce children to classical music, engaging them and supporting the learning of key musical elements, but most of all: to have fun!

In 2023/24, we created an educational package around our Pack Your Bags concert, which was chosen by 13 schools engaged in our Early Years programme. Presented by Raph Clarkson, children were introduced to music by Jeremiah Clarke, Boyce, Rameau and Vivaldi as well as new music specially written for the show by Raph.

Key Stage 1

For our KS1 programme we offer educational resources to schools to engage children with music. They are built around a variety of composers, making classical music accessible to a younger audience.

To begin with, we offer teacher training sessions, familiarising teachers with the material prior to the schools activities. This is followed by a series of workshops and concerts led by OAE musicians and created to actively engage children with the orchestra.

Key Stage 2

Our KS2 workshops follow a similar format to our KS1 workshops, but the learning material is tailored to fit the educational curriculum of the students in Key Stage 2.

The programme offers resources to be used by both in person and online audiences. Our creative, cross-curricular initiatives demonstrate our commitment to investing in the next generation.
