In this short video, Kim Brandstrup explains how working with young dancers at Acland Burghley School has been central to the concept of Breaking Bach.
Brandstrup is the internationally-renowned choreographer behind our Breaking Bach project, that will premiere at the Edinburgh International Festival. The production brings together professional dancers with a group of talented dancers from Acland Burghley’s dance community to create a piece that embeds the breaks, beats and phrasing found in street dance in the music of JS Bach,
Here he talks about how the dancers process the rhythms in the music and how Bach’s orchestral works add a greater depth of complexity to that which we find in his music intended as dance.
