In this episode, we hear popular mathematician Professor Marcus du Sautoy from the University of Oxford talk about the potential for creativity in artificial intelligence.

Marcus du Sautoy is the author of The Creativity Code: How AI is Learning to Write, Paint and Think and in this talk he explores the possibility that artificial intelligence could one day write music like Bach. Alongside this thought-provoking talk, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment perform J.S. Bach’s Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (Now come, Saviour of the Gentiles I) BWV61. It’s an unusual cantata, bringing in an element of secular French opera, such as an Overture, into church music.
