Join us to welcome conductor Johanna Soller ahead of her London debut with the Orchestra. Very much a star on the rise, she is the Artistic Director of the Munich Bach Choir (the first woman to hold that position in its history) and has been praised for her unique combination of emotion, focused energy and intelligence.
Bach wrote his St John Passion to be performed on Good Friday in 1724. It tells the story of Jesus’ final days, from his arrest in the Kidron Valley to his execution. The music mixes storytelling, emotional reflection and highly dramatic choruses to leave lasting impact on audiences.
This is the final rehearsal before the performance at the Southbank Centre on Sunday 29 March.
