What is a Cantata? Our Principal Keyboard Steven Devine explains...

He does so as he accompanies soprano Rowan Pierce in Bach’s Cantata Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten (Yield now, troubling shadows) BWV202.

"A cantata is usually a short composition of several movements that features a story. The word cantata comes from the Italian 'cantare', which means 'to sing'."
