In this season, the second marking our 40th anniversary, we explore the ways in which music is endlessly capable of telling the stories that bring us together. In What the Moon Saw and Other Tales, a collection of short vignettes, Hans Christian Andersen poignantly reminds us that music is unlimited. (His words are often paraphrased as “where words fail, music speaks”.)
Music can encompass a multitude of human experiences beyond even words. It can animate stories, or retell familiar narratives in ways that remind us of their centrality to our shared values. And it can can speak to the connections of community and friendship that inspire us.
