Tea with Netty #29: David Blackadder, OAE’s Principal Trumpet

Netty and David get to rehearsals early so they have time for a bit of a chat about everything from Brandenburg Concertos to grand-parenting.

It’s not every trumpet player that can claim to have accompanied a royal bride down the aisle but our principal trumpet, David Blackadder, has done just that. In our latest podcast he shares memories ranging from playing in a brass band as a boy via Brandenburg 2 on the natural trumpet to his time with us in the OAE. There’s plenty of colourful incidents and thoughts along the way.

Tea with Netty is the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s podcast hosted by viola player Annette Isserlis (Netty). Over a cuppa (or something a little stronger…), Netty chats with a variety of conductors, players and other guests as she ‘spills the tea’ on the side of classical music you don’t normally hear.
